NERIST Entrance Exam Syllabus 2020
North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) is a science and technology-oriented higher education institute in Nirjuli, Itanagar, in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Established in 1984, it is a deemed-to-be-university, autonomous, fully funded and controlled by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Education, Government of India. The institute is managed by a Board of Management, comprising representatives of MHRD, the eight beneficiary states of the North-Eastern region, AICTE and educationists.
The question paper will consist of MCQs (40%), short-descriptive (40%), and long-descriptive questions (20%). The papers for which the Mid-Semester examination has been conducted, the total marks for such papers would be 50. The papers for which the Mid-Semester examination has not been conducted, the total marks for such papers would be 80. The time duration is 180 minutes.
There shall be 100 questions of one mark each in the admission test. There will be two sections in the question paper. Questions in Section-A will be from Research Methodology (Annexure – VII) of 50 marks and questions in Section-B will be respective subjects of 50 marks. Section A will be common for all Department.
Candidates appearing for MBA will have to appear in written test and Group Discussion/Personal Interview. CAT/MAT qualified candidates will be exempted from the written test only. Weightage for the written test and Group Discussion/Personal Interview will be 75% and 25%, respectively. Selection of provisionally selected candidates will be made on the basis of total marks. Candidates having valid CAT score will be given full weightage of allotted written test marks (100 marks). Candidates having valid MAT score will be given 80 marks (80% weightage). (If a candidate with a valid MAT Score wants to appear in written test, the candidate will be allowed to appear in the examination. In this case, the written test score of the candidate will be considered in place of MAT score).

|Unit I||Research: meaning, objective, significance; defining research problem; problems of research in India;|
review of the literature
|Unit II||Method of data collection: historical method, case study, observation, interview, questionnaire,|
experimental method; null and alternate hypothesis; design of experiments; errors in measurements
|Unit III||Analysis and interpretation of data: regression and correlation, ANOVA, T-test, chi-square test, principle|
component analysis; development of models and empirical equations using analytical methods and
principles of similitude
|Unit IV||Presentation of data; report writing: the substance of the report, the format of the report, the basic concept of report writing|
|Unit V||Ethical issues in research; impact factor, citation index, H-index|
